Making the shortlist for the British Travel Awards is the culmination of seven years hard work and I just want to say how proud I am of both the Fal River team and all our 100+ partners who have helped us get here.

HISTORY: What started of as a small Objective One funded marketing project in 2002 called 'King Harry's Cornwall' has developed into one of the largest private sector led marketing partnerships in the country.

TODAY: The Fal River is now Cornwall's most popular visitor destination with over 3 million visitors a year coming to enjoy the stunning natural beauty of this very special Cornish river.

OUR PARTNERS: The Fal River is nothing without the combined offering of all our lovely partners, they represent the very best the area has to offer.

Independently selected for their quality they include award winning attractions, sub-tropical gardens, the highest density of award winning accommodation providers in Cornwall, activity providers, sea safaris, galleries, cafes, restaurants .... the list goes on.

THE RIVER: Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Special Area of Conservation, with over 100 miles of walking and cycling trails, 8 beaches, 2 castles and 8 gardens...including Falmouth, St Mawes, The Roseland & Truro.

FAL RIVER LINKS: Connecting the river is Fal River Links, a network of ferries, buses and trains that allow you to leave the car and explore the river.

The Fal Mussel Card is the river's great value travel and attraction pass, it pulls this whole offering together and gives the holder unlimited hop-on ho-off travel and unlimited garden, castle and attraction entry. The 400% increase in sales shows just how much our visitors love the card and the value it offers.

SO...sorry for waffling on but I am so proud and happy to have reached this significant benchmark. If we win it will be a great day for us, our partners and all those who have worked so hard to get here today.
