Pendennis Castle is one of the finest Henrician Forts in the country. Built on the Pendennis headland by Henry VIII in 1545, it affords spectacular views of the Fal Estuary, known locally as the Carrick Roads and Falmouth Bay.

Later additions include the huge Elizabethan rampart. Pendennis Castle displays a range of artillery defences from the early years of the use of gunpowder to the Second World War. A lively Discovery Centre, finely detailed room reconstructions and regular tours to the underground magazines help bring to life the complex functions and history of Cornwall's greatest fortress.

Open daily except 24th to 26th December and 1st January. Please call for details on admissions and opening hours.
