Fal River Festival fleet bolstered by big names.

Two long-standing supporters of an exciting festival in Falmouth have agreed to back the event again this summer.

A&P Group and Helpful Holidays have signed up as day sponsors of this year’s Truro & Penwith College Fal River Festival, donating vital funds whilst benefitting from some exciting marketing opportunities.

Marine engineering experts - A&P are sponsoring the opening day on 1st June, which will feature the popular Beer Fleet.  Whilst specialist holiday cottage agency - Helpful Holidays will be sponsoring the Saturday 2nd June, which marks the beginning of the bank holiday weekend.

The start of the festival will see the dramatic transfer of beer kegs from Skinner’s Brewery in Truro down the River Fal to Discovery Quay in Falmouth on Friday afternoon for the all important Opening Ceremony in Events Square that night.

With ferries forming a parade, many marine vessels take part, from lifeboats to kayaks, including A&P’s tugs who give an exciting element to the event with their water cannons, all making for a unique and colourful start to the Festival.

Community extravaganza

Helpful Holidays’ day sponsorship brings their support to four years running for this community extravaganza. Their day will see Truro & Penwith College showcasing their music students in the marquee on Event Square.

Margie Lumby, Property Manager at Helpful Holidays, is based in the Fal river area and is an expert in the holiday cottage industry. She explains the attraction of the Truro & Penwith College Fal River Festival.

'We really enjoy being a part of this event. Last year’s sponsorship was a great success for us so we’re keen to be involved again this year,' she said.

'We're proud to put our name to this excellent event, which is enjoyed by so many people and based in an area where we have a large number of holiday homes.'

Mike Reynolds, Port Operations Director for the A&P Group in Falmouth, added: 'A&P is delighted to continue its support of this great local event which directly benefits many of our employees and local suppliers. To be able to link the land and sea with various events across 10 days is tremendous. It is a good way to celebrate the importance of the whole maritime industry to Falmouth and Cornwall.'

Helen Mulhern of Eventy – Marketing & PR is looking after Corporate supporters of the Festival, as well as co-ordinating the 10-day event.

She said: 'We're delighted that last year’s day sponsors are returning again and we would like to say a huge thank you to A&P and Helpful Holidays for their ongoing support.

'Our sponsors help to ensure the survival of this vibrant celebration of life on and around the Fal River and without them the event wouldn’t be able to take place.

'The Festival is well loved so it is a great opportunity for our sponsors and advertisers to reach over a hundred thousand people.'

The Truro and Penwith College Fal River Festival, which will take place from June 1st – June 10th 2012, attracts more than 100,000 people to over 150 events making it one of the largest festivals of its type in Cornwall.
