The sun was shining and the sea was flat calm on the afternoon of thursday 3rd April.
Orca Sea Safaris were running a 2 hour marine wildlife safari out into Falmouth Bay and beyond.

Not one, not two, but three pods of Common dolphins were spotted throughout the trip. The first was 7.5 miles ESE from St Anthony Head where 10-12 common dolphins were exhibiting feeding behaviour. approx 1.5 miles further, a pod of 50 common dolphins were spotted moving at around 14-15 knots, a number of dolphins broke from the pod to join our boat for a bit of fun and bow riding. 3 miles west of here we found another 10 common dolphins and whiole shutting our engines down, they approached us and started milling around the boat, to the joy of our passengers!

Over the 2 hour period over 100 Guillemots and over 100 Gannets were spotted, both flying and sitting on the water out to sea, and to top off the trip, 2 juvenile seals were spotted on Shag rock at St Anthony Head. One was basking on the rocks and the other was in the water, the seal in the water was really small.

After returning to Falmouth, Matt our Skipper got a call from Topper off the St Mawes Ferry to say he was looking at approx 9 bottlenose dolphins near the Governor Bouy in Carrick roads. These were probably the dolphins that Orca Sea safaris saw on Mondays trip!

All in all..... a great day!
